Cooke Varotal 18-100mm T3 Zoom

The Cooke Varotal 18-100mm T3 is a PL-mount cine zoom that covers the focal lengths of a set of primes in one lens. It holds a constant T3 aperture and keeps the warm, smooth Cooke look.

It stays sharp even at its widest aperture and retains the flattering Cooke rendering of skin tones and highlights. Breathing is absent at the wide end and minimal at the long end, so reframing and focus pulls look natural. It is a larger, studio-style zoom for productions that need range without changing lenses.

The range is 18 to 100mm at a constant T3, covering Super 35. Close focus is 28 inches (2 feet 4 inches), which allows extreme close-ups, and the front diameter is 150mm. The mount is PL. It is a heavy lens, so it is best supported on a rig with proper lens support rather than used handheld. It suits drama and commercial work.
