Tiffen 82mm Black Pro Mist 1/8

The Tiffen Black Pro-Mist 1/8 in 82mm is the lightest strength of one of the most used diffusion filters in cinema. It adds a delicate halation around lights and takes a little edge off the image. It screws onto any 82mm lens thread.

Black Pro-Mist layers a gentle contrast reduction with a soft, gauzy bloom around practical and specular lights. At 1/8 the effect is subtle: highlights glow, shadow detail is kept and skin tone values stay natural, with a touch of added warmth. Stronger effects start to show at 1/4 and above.

This is the 82mm screw-in version, made with Tiffen's ColorCore process, which laminates the filter material between two pieces of optical glass in a precision metal ring. It suits cameras and lenses without a matte box, such as mirrorless and handheld builds, and is a good choice for a modern, clean digital look.
