Schneider Hollywood Black Magic Filters (PV)

Schneider Hollywood Black Magic is a diffusion filter that sits between a soft focus filter and a black frost. It softens skin and detail while keeping blacks rich and the image sharp.

It removes blemishes and wrinkles with an airbrushed texture, softens mid-tones and adds a glow to highlights, and reduces glare without a heavy cost to contrast. It is a common choice for beauty and close-up work, where the face needs flattering without the whole image looking obviously filtered. The effect builds with each strength, so a trays-and-grades kit lets you match the diffusion to the lens.

The filters are made from water white optical glass in the 4x5.65 inch (PV) size, with strengths in the series from 1/8 through 2 for a light touch through to a heavy look. They fit any standard 4x5.65 matte box tray. Use lighter grades on wide shots and heavier ones on close-ups. It is a safe choice when a face needs to look natural.
