Tiffen IRND 4x5.65 Filter Set

Tiffen IRND filters are neutral density filters that also block infrared light, so colours stay true when you cut a lot of light. This set is in the 4x5.65 size for standard cinema matte boxes.

Many digital cameras are sensitive to infrared, and when you add heavy ND the IR gets through and shows up as a red or magenta cast in blacks and synthetic fabrics. IRND filters have matched ND and IR cut, which keeps the colour accurate across the stop range. It is the right choice when shooting wide open outdoors. It also matters on dark fabrics, which can shift colour under strong sun.

The filters are 4x5.65 inch (Panavision size). Tiffen's IRND grades of 0.6, 0.9, 1.2 and 1.8 give two, three, four and six stops of reduction, and the hot mirror versions block both near and far IR. They fit any standard 4x5.65 matte box tray and stack with diffusion or a polariser.
