Tilta Hydra Alien Car Mount

The Tilta Hydra Alien is a modular car mounting system that uses suction cups and dovetail plates to rig a gimbal or camera to a vehicle. It is designed for smaller gimbals as a light alternative to a full car rig.

Suction cups and dovetail style plates interconnect so you can place the shot exactly where you want it, high, low or off the side of the car. A shock absorbing arm helps stabilise the camera, and a spring loaded cradle head lets the gimbal run upside down when the shot needs it. The dovetail plates have retractable safety pins at every position the arm can mount.

Load capacity is 55kg (121lb) on the small suction cups and 100kg (220lb) on the large cups, and the system itself weighs about 6.5kg. It is built from aluminium, stainless steel, rubber and ABS. As with any car rig, the vehicle surface needs to be clean and suitable for suction, and the camera should have a safety line in addition to the cups.
