8x8 Frame

The 8x8ft frame is a large overhead frame for rigging silk, diffusion or solid over a set. It is big enough to soften a whole key source or take the harshness off overhead sun on exteriors.

The aluminium frame folds flat for the van and locks together quickly on set, so a small crew can build it without fuss. A pair of grip ears is fitted so it mounts to overhead stands, combo arms or lollipops. Once flown it gives a large, even area of diffused light or shade across a scene, which is hard to get from anything smaller.

The frame measures 244 x 244 x 3cm and weighs 11.3kg, so it needs a properly weighted stand and sandbags, especially outdoors where wind catches a surface this size. Choose silk, grid cloth, bounce or solid fabric to suit the job. For smaller set-ups the 6x6 frame is easier for two people to handle and fly.
