Floppy Flag Top Hinge 4x4

The Matthews 4x4 Floppy Flag with a top hinge is a 48 x 48 inch black flag with a folding side for cutting light. It is used to control spill and flare, and to shape a source without spilling light elsewhere.

The frame is square, and a hinged section folds out to 90 degrees. That lets you position it over the top of a set wall, or use two or more units to build a box for tighter control. The top-hinge version has three square corners rather than two, so it sits tidily against flats and walls.

The flag is solid black cloth on a steel frame with a mounting pin and weighs around 2.8kg. It mounts to a C-stand arm or grip head and is used to protect the lens from flares or keep light from reaching parts of the set. Add a sandbag to the stand when the flag is outside, because a 4x4 catches wind.
