Aputure Lantern Softbox

The Aputure Lantern is a 65cm spherical softbox that mounts on Bowens fixtures and throws soft light in almost every direction. It is a quick way to turn a point-source LED into an ambient source for a whole room.

Because the Lantern spreads light through about 270 degrees, it works hung overhead as a soft top light or placed in the middle of a set to fill a space evenly. A removable light control skirt cuts spill when you need the light to stay off walls or a background. It opens in seconds and goes up on a boom arm or stand alongside the light.

The Lantern is 26 inches across and measures roughly 650 x 650 x 560mm when open, with 1 stop diffusion fabric and the skirt. The mount is Bowens, so it fits Aputure's Light Storm series and most other Bowens-mount LED heads. Use a head with enough output to fill it, such as an LS 300 or 600 series fixture.
